Action-packed fighting game

Naruto the Way of the Ninja is a 2D fighting game developed by SpartanCoders where you get to fight other Naruto characters in an arcade-style face-off. It is exciting and enjoyable especially when playing with friends!

Unexpectedly fun fights

It is not difficult to underestimate the game at first glance especially because of its simple 2D design, but believe me when I tell you that it is worth giving a try. You would be surprised at how flexible the gameplay is. The characters are able to to do more than punches and kicks. Combination moves are possible to execute in this game and you will come to appreciate this more once you get the hang of it. You will need to put an effort in learning each character’s skill set and in trying to discover what controls would trigger their special attacks and combo hits. It is a very promising investment no matter how time-consuming it may be or how many rounds it would take because combo hits can reach a very high number. I’m not talking about reaching only 5 hit combos. I am talking about being able to do up to 30 hits or more! Even the jutsus and other famous techniques in the Naruto series can be done in the fights. Just be patient and take the time to learn the skills of each one. You will find yourself really enjoying the game.

Like other fighting games, the health bar of the players are displayed above and gradually depletes when they are hit by the opponent. The character’s power gauge is located at the bottom of the screen and it also decreases whenever powerful attacks and combo hits are performed. It is easy to recover power because it refills almost immediately after a skill is done.

Playing in 2D

The game’s graphics are undeniably outdated but not entirely terrible to look at. Its game characters look like smudged painting moving across the screen as they perform neat attacks against their opponents, that is to say, that despite the graphics being slightly pixelated, the gameplay itself is smooth. The background and sceneries where the fights take place try to add a realistic effect to the game. For instance, waterfalls do have flowing water and leaves do fall from leaves when the wind blows.

Game modes

Beginners can start with the training mode and I would say that this is the best time to practice, learn, and master each character’s skill. It is also the best mode for trying to remember which buttons to press in order to trigger combo hits through trial and error battles against an AI. There is also a multiplayer mode where you can battle with your other friends or Naruto fans.

A surprisingly enjoyable game

Naruto the Way of the Ninja is like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. It is just as fun as other fighting games and can unexpectedly deliver a smooth gameplay. You should look past the game’s not so impressive graphics and focus on the thrilling fights.
